About Fundação LevasFlor

Fundação LevasFlor (FLF) is a Mozambican non-profit founded in September 2023 and based in Beira, Sofala Province. We grew out of LevasFlor Lda., a social-profit forestry company with over 20 years of experience managing an FSC-certified concession in the Miombo woodlands — which means we are rooted in the landscape for the long term, not just for the length of a project.

Our vision

A future where human development and biodiversity thrive together.

Our mission

To promote responsible management of the Miombo forests and their natural resources, so that they benefit local communities and Mozambique in the context of climate change.

Our values

  • We embrace integrity, transparency, and empathy
  • We privilege local knowledge and practices
  • We ensure the participation of the most vulnerable groups
  • We strive for environmental innovation
  • We stand for inclusion and social justice

Where we work

We work in Sofala Province, central Mozambique — in Muanza, Cheringoma, Inhaminga and Condue. These communities sit within the Miombo woodlands, the world’s most extensive dry forest, which stores carbon, shelters biodiversity, and underpins the livelihoods of the families who live there. Our two long-term goals for this landscape: ending extreme poverty and zero deforestation by 2030.

Our team

FLF is run by a Mozambican team of project managers, field technicians and community development staff based in Beira and in the districts where we work.
